Whose Voice Do You Choose?

There is a balance that must be maintained in relation to information input. Today’s world is so full of information, much of it flawed yet all of it for a specific purpose. The purpose is the key thing to understand prior to allowing it into our eyes and/or ears. If you are reckless, you do not carefully filter inputs but consider all information somehow helpful; this is dangerously flawed thinking and will lead to foolish thought.
I have developed a love for reading and writing throughout my life. I research things to a fault as I have an insatiable desire to find truth. I have made many mistakes in the past, all of which the roots can be traced to false information input. For example, there have been many times in the past that I’ve watched a ‘documentary’ and walked away ‘believing’ much of what was communicated. It seemed so real, so true, however, upon further research, I found it to be seriously flawed…. many times involving a truth to appear credible but twisting the truth into a lie based on the ‘purpose’ of the creator. There was an underlying belief the creator wanted to create in the viewer to send them down a path of flawed belief. As a result, once the flawed information is communicated, the listener will begin to share the flawed information and the snowball affect begins…… a false narrative spreads like wildfire to all who blindly believe without seeking the truth first.
What are you reading? Who wrote it? What is the basis of their belief?
What are you watching? Who created it? What is the basis of their belief?
Who are you listening to? What is the basis of their belief? Where do they get their information?
The world we live in has been shaped by false information since the beginning of time, accelerating at an exponential rate as communication channels and speed of information have increased. The vast majority of today’s information is seriously flawed, yet expertly designed, to create a favorable outcome for a specific cause or purpose. Many who have not allowed their hearts and minds to be polluted sit back and wonder how others can believe the things they believe. How has evil become good and good become evil? The answer can be found by understanding the basis of their inputs. They have been fed a steady diet of flawed information, the culmination of which has formed their belief.
As you read this, hopefully this is sinking in…. you are probably thinking, ‘yeah, there’s a lot of craziness going on out there and I can’t believe people are buying it’…… ok, you would be right, however, I want you to think about the information you are inputting into your eyes and ears. As I stated at the beginning of this writing, balance must be maintained in relation to information input.
T.V. shows are designed to not only entertain but desensitize the populace toward adopting a belief system contrary to foundational truth. The more you become emotionally involved in the false narrative, the more you become ‘accepting’ of the lie. This is propaganda 101…. people are easily duped and manipulated… yes, all of us who are not balanced. This is true for all channels of communication of which must be cut off or, at the very least, understood for what it is in order to defend ourselves!
What is the basis of truth? The answer is, the Word of God. God did not provide His Word in order to ‘control’ you or ‘fun-suck’ your life, quite the contrary. He provided His Word to save us from self-inflicted pain. Sin is covered in a coating of sweetness but death lies within.
With all the false information bombarding society today, if you are not steeped in the knowledge and understanding of God’s foundational truth’s, you are also being led down a path, albeit a bit slower if you are a believer, but moving away from truth all the same. If a Sunday morning sermon or an occasional social media article or prayer is your only foundational input, you are being led down a false path by the plethora of other purposeful inputs you allow in. Please consider this a loving ear-slap, it’s time to wake up and realize you need to start striking a balance in your life and stop the cycle of false inoculation.
As a believer, we usually do not consciously disobey God, we simply do not heed Him. Why? Because we do not love and respect Him. ‘If you love me, you will keep my commandments’ (John 14:15). We show how little we love God by listening only to His servants. We like personal testimonies, reading spiritual books/articles, watching sermons, etc., but we do not desire that God Himself should speak to us. Why? Because we must choose to obey Him or directly disobey Him. If it’s the servants voice you deny, it can be passed-off as their idea and not God’s, although you know it to be truth.
Are your inputs balanced by ensuring foundational truth outweighs worldly inputs? Are you seeking His voice in your quiet place to receive clear direction and wisdom? Are you putting God in the frustrating position of proclaiming Him yet ignoring Him?
