The difference between David and Saul was not only that David loved truth, and Saul didn't; it was that David loved the truth enough to write down everything God told him (Psalms, etc.), and Saul didn't. By neglect, Saul defaulted on his leadership and forfeited his kingdom.
When David reached the lowest point of his career, when everyone he had loved and trusted seemed to have turned against him, he was able to strengthen himself by reading all that God had done for him before that time. The Bible actually says,"He strengthened himself in the Lord". Just by reading the words, he was able to turn around and become completely victorious. In the strength of those words, he recaptured his family and his men, then went on to capture the kingdom as well.
There is no way these words can be minimized, WRITE IT DOWN!
The core of ignorance is stubbornness. A stubborn man who refuses to be taught will always be ignorant. Ignorant men will always be at the mercy of the knowledgeable.
